Lab Work and Investigations

There are times when an immediate diagnosis is just not possible and additional diagnostic tests, including blood tests and skin or faecal analysis (amongst others), may be required to help us ascertain what is causing the problem. Many of these tests can be performed in house at our practice in Walliswood. If we require additional services, we will courier samples to the appropriate specialist equine laboratory at a nearby veterinary hospital for the quickest turnaround.

When may Lab Work be needed?

Lab work may be required in situations where your horse is losing weight without an obvious cause, suspected worm infection, suspected poisoning, allergies, reproductive tests, skin diseases and so the list goes on. It is not always easy to diagnose an issue immediately but we are best placed to offer the right equine laboratory services and ensure the correct diagnostic tests are completed in order to obtain a diagnosis efficiently.
